

Maybe this is like another situation I've always wondered about concerning Microsoft's DV codec.

Premiere is OK, but if it were not I'd use HDVSplit.ĮdDV is right in that XP is more or less clueless about HDV, and it's up to the programs and drivers you will install that will allow you to use it. Both PCs had Premiere Pro 2.0 and in both, Premiere does recognize and capture HDV without fuss. (This is on inspecting device manager and Moviemaker.) On another PC, though, with HD settings, it was recognized merely as an "AVC device". When I connected the HV30 to one PC with the requisite HD settings, XP Pro didn't see it, although, like ChrisU, with DV settings all seemed OK.
